WILLOW SPRINGS -(November 18, 2015)-Construction crews working along the BNSF tracks behind Ursula Drive finished up fence and sound wall restoration on Wednesday afternoon. Track work is in progress and major construction is targeted for completion on Saturday, November 21, according to the railroad engineering contractor. Work crews at times, recently, have worked outside the projects regular working day of 6 a.m. until 6 p.m., to make up for weather days lost. Trains are required to blow their whistles at crossings and wherever workers may be working on the tracks. The frequency of whistles will decrease when workers are no longer in the area. The final project completion date is November 26. After the track is installed on Saturday, only minor construction should remain for workers to complete. Those items would include site cleanup and landscape restoration. Only punch list items will remain and be addressed after. Railroad contractors say the project will be considered ”substantially complete” by Saturday when heavy equipment will remove old and install new tracks. The work is expected last all day on Saturday until finished.
