WILLOW SPRINGS -(November 18, 2015) – Rain this week pushed back the paving of the soon-to-open Metra Commuter lot at Willow Boulevard in the Village Center. Paving crews hope to utilize a window of dry weather on Thursday and Friday to finish the asphalt work. Sidewalks and entrances are already completed. Landscaping and amenities such as benches and a covered bicycle rack will be installed in springtime. Daily parking for the facility will be provided through the mobile app Passport Parking. Discounted monthly passes will be sold at Village Hall. The new lot is expected to provide cost savings over the currently leased lot along the Cal Sag. In addition, the lot is part of the Village’s ongoing “Quiet Zone” efforts. Rail commuters will no longer be crossing the tracks to Board trains. This measure appreciably affects the Village’s safety rating at the crossing which is part of the criteria for gaining “Quiet Zone” designation.
