Police,
Secret Service investigate phony money
At 12:09 a.m., officers responded to a bar
in the 8200 block of Kean Avenue to investigate an
attempted deceptive practice. The bartender called
police after three male patrons attempted to pass two
fraudulent $100 bills in the business. One bill was
passed for change, and the other was used to attempt to
pay a bar bill. The subjects were detained for
investigation, transported to the police station, and a
total of four fraudulent bills were recovered. The U.S.
Secret Service was contacted and an agent interviewed
each of the subjects in reference to the fraudulent
bills. The subjects were then released pending further
investigation.

Teen
charged with driving 41 mph over the limit
At 1:58 a.m., an officer conducting
stationary radar at 80th and Archer observed
a vehicle traveling 81 miles per hour in a 35 zone and
stopped the vehicle in the 8700 block of Archer.
Contact with the driver resulted in an explanation that
he was “in a hurry to get home.” He was arrested and
taken to the police station, and his vehicle was towed.
The 17-year-old male from Homer Glen was charged with
Speeding, Driving Too Fast for Conditions, and Driving
without Proof of Insurance. He was released after
posting a cash bond and given a mandatory court date of
May 30.

Speeding leads to DUI Arrest
At 4:25 p.m., an officer conducting radar
patrol at 80th and Archer observed a vehicle
traveling 50 miles per hour in a 35 zone and stopped the
vehicle near 87th and Archer. Contact with
the driver indicated signs that he had been drinking.
He performed field sobriety tests which he failed. He
was also found to be driving on a suspended driver’s
license. He was arrested and taken to the police
station, his vehicle was towed, and a breath test
indicated an alcohol content of .14. The 44-year-old
Chicago man was charged with Speeding, Having No Proof
of Insurance, Driving While License Suspended, Driving
While Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Having a BAC
in Excess of .08. He was released on a recognizance
bond and given a court date of May 30.

Felony
DUI charges filed
At 1:51 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle
traveling southbound on Archer, striking and then
driving onto the curb. The officer followed the
motorist and pulled him over. Contact with the driver
revealed the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his
breath. The man was offered field sobriety tests which
he failed. He was offered a portable breath test which
he took, indicating a result of .172. He was placed
under arrest and transported to the police station, his
vehicle was towed. A breath test at the station
indicated a BAC of .210. Because the 28-year-old
Plainfield man had a revoked license due to prior DUI
convictions, the State’s Attorney approved a felony
charge of Aggravated DUI. He was cited for Improper
Lane Usage, Having No Proof of Insurance, Driving While
License Revoked, Aggravated Driving While Under the
Influence of Alcohol, and Having a BAC in Excess of
.08. He was held pending a bond hearing on April 14.

Traffic
stop nets arrest on outstanding warrant
At 1 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle
traveling northbound on LaGrange Road and crossing the
painted lane marker two times. The motorist was pulled
over by the officer at I-55 and LaGrange. The officer
detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver
and the driver admitted to drinking. He agreed to take
a portable breath test which indicated his alcohol
content was just below the legal limit. He was also
found to be driving on a suspended license and had an
outstanding arrest warrant for Unlawful Use of Weapon.
He was arrested, and his vehicle was towed. The
18-year-old from Brookfield was cited for Improper Lane
Usage, Illegal Consumption of Alcohol, and Driving While
License Suspended. He was unable to post the required
bond and was subsequently transported to the Bridgeview
Courthouse for a bond hearing.

Radar
stop nets DUI Arrest
At 1:47 a.m., an officer conducting
stationary radar on Route 45 observed a vehicle
traveling 67 mph in a posted 45 mph zone. The officer
followed the vehicle and stopped it at Archer and
Mound. Contact with the driver indicated signs that he
had been drinking. He was offered field sobriety tests
which he failed. The driver was also offered and
refused a portable breath test. He was placed under
arrest, his vehicle was towed, and he was offered a
breath test at the station which he also refused. The
36-year-old from Crestwood was cited for Speeding, and
Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol. He was
given a court date of May 30.

Weaving
leads to DUI Arrest
At 1 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle
traveling northbound on Archer crossing the center line
four times. The officer stopped the vehicle at Archer
and Vana. The officer detected the odor of an alcoholic
beverage on the driver and the driver admitted to
drinking. He was offered the opportunity to perform
field sobriety tests which he refused. He was arrested,
his vehicle was towed, and he was offered a breath test
at the station which he also refused. The 51-year-old
Chicago man was cited for Improper Lane Usage, Having No
Proof of Insurance, and Driving While Under the
Influence of Alcohol. He was given a court date of May
30.

Drug
charges filed against seat-swapping motorist
At 6:22 p.m., an officer was following a
vehicle after observing a violation. The vehicle made a
quick turn onto Charlton and the male driver and female
passenger then switched places. The officer stopped the
vehicle to investigate further. Upon speaking with the
vehicle’s occupants, the officer could smell the strong
odor of burnt cannabis from inside the vehicle. Further
investigation indicated that the driver did not have a
valid driver’s license and resulted in the arrest of the
male driver and the recovery of a small amount of
cannabis. The 24-year-old man from Chicago admitted to
smoking cannabis before driving and submitted to
chemical testing at an area hospital. He was issued
five citations and a misdemeanor complaint for the
possession of cannabis. He has a court date of May 30
in Bridgeview.

Man cited for Public Intoxication
At 1:41 p.m., officers responded to
a possible man lying on the side of the road at
Archer near 95th street. Officers
checking the area found the man staggering
northbound on Archer. The 47-year-old man from
Bedford Park was cited for public intoxication
and given a court date of April 23.

Swerving Vehicle Curbed and DUI charged
At 1:30 a.m., an officer observed a
vehicle traveling 20 mph in a 45 mph zone. The
vehicle crossed the center line in the road four
times while southbound on Archer and
subsequently was stopped near 8800 Archer. The
officer said he detected the odor of an
alcoholic beverage on the driver and the driver
admitted to drinking. The driver was given
field sobriety tests which he failed. He was
arrested, his vehicle was towed, and he
submitted to a breath test indicating an alcohol
content of .270. The 22-year-old male from
Chicago was cited for Improper Lane Usage, No
Valid Drivers License, Driving While Under the
Influence of Alcohol, and having a BAC in Excess
of .08. He was given a court date of April 23.

Speeding leads to Marijuana Arrest
At about 6 p.m., an officer stopped
a vehicle for an allegedly speeding at 8700
Archer. Upon speaking with the driver, the
officer detected the odor of burnt cannabis.
Further investigation resulted in the recovery
of drug paraphernalia and several small bags of
cannabis. The 21-year-old male from Burbank was
arrested and his vehicle was towed. He was
cited for speeding, an equipment violation, and
charged with misdemeanor possession of drug
paraphernalia and for possession of cannabis.
He posted the required bond and was given a
court date of April 23 in Bridgeview.

Juvenile arrested for Possession of Stolen
Vehicle
On March 24, juvenile officers
charged a local male juvenile with possession of
a stolen vehicle and with curfew violations for
an incident that occurred over the weekend. The
subject is being held at the juvenile detention
facility, 1100 S. Hamilton, Chicago, pending a
future court date.

Motorist hits curb, gets DUI charge
At 3:14 a.m., an officer observed a
vehicle traveling south on Archer crossing the
center line twice and then striking a curb.
Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer observed
that the female driver was under the influence
of alcohol. The woman was offered field
sobriety testing but refused. She did submit to
a portable breath test which indicated an
alcohol content of .166 and she was placed under
arrest. Once at the police station, the woman
refused any further testing. The 32-year-old
Lemont woman was charged with Improper Lane
Usage, Driving While under the Influence of
Alcohol, and having No Proof of Insurance. She
has a April 23 court date.

Felony charge filed in DUI case
At 1:42 a.m., an officer followed a
vehicle traveling on Archer near Nolton and
observed the vehicle strike the curb four
times. After stopping the vehicle, the officer
made observed that the female driver was under
the influence of alcohol. Police said the
driver was unable to stand without support,
attempted field sobriety tests and failed them.
The 41-year-old Hickory Hills woman was arrested
and her vehicle was towed. Because her license
had been previously revoked for a prior DUI, the
State’s Attorneys Office approved a felony
charge of Aggravated DUI. She was also cited
for Improper Lane Usage, Driving While Under the
Influence of Alcohol, Driving While License
Revoked, having No Proof of Insurance, and
Disobeying a Police Officer. She has a court
date of April 23 in Bridgeview.

At 1:30 a.m., an officer observed a
vehicle traveling 76 mph in a 45 mph zone near
7600 LaGrange Road and stopped the vehicle at
8700 LaGrange Road. The officer reported that
he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on
the driver and the driver admitted to drinking.
The driver was given field sobriety tests which
he failed. He was arrested, his vehicle was
towed, and he refused any further testing. The
25-year-old male from Chicago was cited for
Speeding and for Driving While Under the
Influence of Alcohol. He has a court date on
April 23.

Officer avoids head-on collision, makes DUI
arrest
At 12:51 am, an officer traveling
south on Archer observed a northbound vehicle
cross the center of the road driving toward the
squad car. After taking evasive action, the
officer turned around and stopped the vehicle
near 8700 Archer. The officer observed an open
bottle of Hennessy and a can of beer in the
vehicle. The subject failed field sobriety
tests and his breath test indicated an alcohol
level of .122. The 31-year-old man from Chicago
was charged with Improper Lane Usage, having No
Valid Drivers License, having No Proof of
Insurance, Driving While under the Influence of
Alcohol, Having a BAC in Excess of .08, and
Illegal Transportation of Open Alcohol. His
vehicle was towed and he was given a court date
of April 23 in Bridgeview.

Slumped over car occupant faces felony drug
charge
At 9:24 pm, an officer observed a
suspicious vehicle parked outside a closed
business in the 8300 block of Archer. The
vehicle was occupied by a male who was slumped
over in the front seat. Upon checking on the
occupant’s condition, the officer observed that
the man appeared confused and was perspiring
heavily. The man said he was OK and waiting for
a girlfriend. Upon investigation, the officer
recovered a clear bag with three hypodermic
syringes, a vial containing suspected cocaine,
and a small amount of cannabis. Field tests of
the substances revealed the presumptive presence
of cocaine and cannabis. The 35-year-old man
from Champaign was charged with a Felony count
of Possession of a Controlled Substance, and
misdemeanor complaints for Possession of a
Narcotic Instrument, and Possession of
Cannabis. He was held pending a bond hearing
and his vehicle was towed.

Traffic accident leads to DUI charges |
|
At approximately 5 p.m., a
motorist merged into traffic southbound on
Archer near 81st Street and was
allegedly rear-ended by the driver of a gold
Cadillac.
The accident victim
attempted to stop to exchange information but
the driver of the Cadillac kept going. The
victim followed the vehicle and called 911.
Both vehicles were eventually stopped by Cook
County Sheriff’s police at 107th and
Roberts Road. Police said the driver of the
Cadillac exited his vehicle and dropped an open
bottle of whiskey and attempted to kick it under
his car. The driver had a strong odor of an
alcoholic beverage on his breath and displayed
obvious signs of impairment, police reported.
He was offered field sobriety tests and a breath
test, but refused all testing. The 50-year-old
man from Worth was charged with Improper Lane
Usage, Following Too Closely, Leaving the Scene
of a Property Damage Accident, Illegal
Transportation of Open Alcohol, and Driving
While under the Influence. He was given a court
date of April 23 and his vehicle was towed.

Police arrest man with knife in
disturbance call |
|
At
12:46 a.m., officers answered a disturbance call
at a business in the 8600 block of Archer
Avenue. Investigation revealed that there had
been a domestic disturbance outside the business
involving a 22-year-old Chicago woman and her
21-year-old ex-boyfriend who is also from
Chicago. During the disturbance, the man
allegedly grabbed the female by the shoulder
while waving a knife and yelling at her. She
talked him into dropping the knife and the
responding officers took the man into custody
upon their arrival. The woman was uninjured in
the incident. The Chicago man was charged with
Aggravated Assault and with Domestic Battery and
held pending a bond hearing at the Bridgeview
Courthouse.

Car burglarized on Santa Fe Drive |

|
A
resident of Santa Fe Drive reported a burglary
to a motor vehicle that occurred during the
overnight hours. An unknown offender broke out
the rear door glass of a Dodge Durango and
removed a DVD player and three movies from the
interior of the vehicle.

| Police detectives foil credit
card theft
|
|
Following an investigation of a theft from a
unit near 100 Willow Lane, detectives arrested a
32-year-old Burbank man Feb. 28 on three felony
counts of unlawful use of a credit card. The
card was reported as stolen 10 days earlier.
The offender used the card to pay for taxi cab
services, to purchase five cartons of cigarettes
at a Burbank gas station, and to obtain $400
cash at a bank near at 83rd and
Kedzie in Chicago, police said. |

| Tires slashed on Ursula Drive
|
|
A
resident on Ursula Drive reported that he came
out of his house on Feb. 28 and discovered that
a total of 10 tires on four of his vehicles had
been damaged. The unknown offender is believed
to have used a knife or sharp object to slash
the tires. The victim could not provide any
lead to who was responsible for the damage.

Traffic stop nets DUI charges on Archer
Avenue

|
On Feb.
25 at 1:15 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop of
a driver for allegedly speeding in the vicinity of 8000
S. Archer. During the stop the officer detected the
odor of alcohol from the driver’s breath and subsequent
investigation led to her arrest on a charge of Driving
While Under the Influence of Alcohol. Police said the
woman failed field sobriety tests and a portable breath
test indicated an alcohol content of .189.
The
34-year-old Homer Glen woman was charged with speeding
and DUI. She was given a court date of March 18.

Police place drug charges, seize vehicle
|
|
On Feb. 22 at 2:13 a.m., an officer
conducted a check on a suspicious vehicle that was
parked, running and occupied by two people in the lot of
a business after hours near 82nd and Kean
Avenue. Further investigation led to the discovery of
small quantities of cocaine and various prescription
drugs, police reported.
The owner of the vehicle, a
53-year-old Palos Hills man, was charged with two felony
counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The second occupant, a 51-year-old
Palos Hills woman, was charged with three felony counts
of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Both subjects were held pending
felony bond hearings on Feb. 23 at the Bridgeview Court
Facility.
A1999 Chevy Tahoe and a small
quantity of currency were also seized by the Police
Department pending the initiation of civil forfeiture
proceedings.

At 2:30 a.m., an officer conducted
a traffic stop of a car near 7600 S. Route 45. During
the stop the officer detected the odor of alcohol from
the driver’s breath and subsequent investigation led to
her arrest for Driving While Under the Influence of
Alcohol. The officer reported that the 20-year-old
Cresthill woman failed field sobriety tests and a breath
test indicated an alcohol content of .155.
The woman was charged with
speeding, improper lane usage, DUI, and Having a BAC in
Excess of .08. She was given a court date of March 18.

At 9:15 p.m., an officer stopped a motorist for speeding
at Archer Avenue and Market. Further investigation
resulted in the discovery of a small quantity of
cannabis. A 17-year-old from Joliet was cited for
Possession of Cannabis and given a court date of March
18. |

Traffic stop leads to drug arrests |

|
At 1 a.m., an officer conducted a
traffic stop of a car in the vicinity of Archer and
Route 45. During the stop the officer detected the odor
of cannabis from the vehicle and subsequent
investigation led to the recovery of three small plastic
bags believed to contain cannabis. A 17-year-old from
Justice was charged with two traffic offenses and
possession of cannabis. An additional 17-year-old was
issued an ordinance violation for possession of
cannabis.
A 16-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, both from
Justice, were cited for curfew violations and released
to their parents

| Police recover $40,000
in stolen goods at construction site |
|
| |
|
|
Police officers responded to a construction site at 11310 W. 87th
Street and recovered a stolen Bobcat Skid Steer and trailer on
the property. The items belonged to a Rental Max in Downers
Grove and the renter had previously reported them as stolen in
the City of Chicago. The Bobcat and trailer have a value of
approximately $40,000. |

Police investigate missing vehicle |

At 9:47 p.m., officers responded to
a reported theft of motor vehicle in the 8000 block of
Archer. The resident reported that he parked his 1990
Dodge Spirit at 11 a.m. on Feb.14 and found it missing
on the evening of Feb.15. The owner did not know if the
car was locked but said there was an extra set of keys
in the car.
At approximately 2:30 a.m.on
Feb.16, an officer on patrol discovered the car had been
returned and parked in the victim’s parking lot, but the
extra set of keys was missing. |

| Police make DUI arrest
on Archer Avenue |

|
A 21-year-old Chicago man was charged with
Speeding, Improper Lane Usage, Driving while under the Influence
of Alcohol, and Having a BAC in Excess of .08 after being
stopped by police for allegedly going 56 mph in a posted 35 mph
on Archer Avenue at 1:27 a.m..,
The police said the Chevy van driven by
the man was observed crossing the painted center line
of the roadway and was stopped at 8500 Archer.
On-scene investigation revealed indications
that the driver had been drinking, police reported. The driver
agreed to take a field sobriety test which he failed, police
said.
The man was placed under arrest,
transported to the police station and agreed to a breath test
which indicated an alcohol content of .166.
He was given a court date of March 18 in
Bridgeview and his vehicle was towed.

| Accident scene
investigation leads to DUI charges |
|

|
|
At 3:58 a.m., officers responded to an
accident with injuries call in the 7700 block of Willow Springs
Road, where a white Chevy van had allegedly rear-ended a PACE
bus.
Upon arrival, the driver of the van was
found unconscious between the seat and the steering wheel, and
his front seat passenger had been partially ejected through the
windshield. Both subjects were extricated from the van by the
Fire Department and were transported to area hospitals. It was
later determined that neither subject had suffered any life
threatening injuries. Blood samples from the driver indicated
that he had an alcohol level of .167.
The 26-year-old driver from Oakbrook was
charged with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident,
Driving While Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Having a BAC
in Excess of .08. He was released on a recognizance bond, given
a court date of March 18 in Bridgeview, and his van was towed.
